Liverpool   ( Alex Wall )

What a welcome at Liverpool, Alex Wall, Ray was there, to meet us, with the permits. Introducing Mark and me to Mick and his son young Michael. Later in the morning, Pete, the master blanker, joined us. Another, round of handshakes, and the talk of who and what we had caught, and some stories of great fishing conquests. The laughs were coming in fast as we all were having a joke about each other.

We enjoyed our day on the wall starting at 9am till 7.30pm. Mark had caught Whiting and I had Codling and Whiting up to a pound. But young Michael, who pulled fish in as if they had gone out of fashion, overshadowed us all. He was the Master Angler of the Day.

When Pete fishes does any body tell him that his line has to be in the water, to catch fish. I’m sure when he casts a line it must be just over the wall and not in the water.
On the day, Pete did not come to fish; maybe he was frightened of the challenge of loosing his title of Master Blanker to me. But all those present it was obvious that Pete was a bigger blanker than me.

Alex Wall, was my first experience of fishing at Liverpool, the people who came to meet us, and help, I would like to thank. So if they ever need help or information, on areas I have fished, they have just got to give me a call. I left Liverpool with happy memories of fishing and the feeling of warmth I had received from those that spent the day with us.
