Collecting Live Bait from Mr Cooke at Cley-Next-the-Sea Norfolk

 Weybourne Norfolk.Saturday 24th July 2004

A couple of us fished 8am till 5pm on a warm pleasent day. There were many anglers along the shore edge, as the sea lapped the beach.

We started bait fishing with clipped and flapper rigs, Local Lug, Rag, Squid and frozen Black. Nowt was coming ashore, not even a rattle, diddly squat. Tic Tacs were to change, too the left and too the right Mackerel were being landed, so it was time for the Flash rigs. 10am to 2pm, with HT about 11.30am, was the busy period.About 40 or so Mackerel I caught, some for the freezer, some for the Pan and likkle ones returned. When the busy period was over we went back to bait casting but nowt, tried the feathers again, still nowt. come 5pm we were talking about our last catch AND Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes weeeheeee NOWT. I do catch in my dreams on a last catch, but being back to reality NOWT. We had another great days fishing on the Norfolk coast and will return with more dreams of 10lb Bass and maybe, just maybe we will get the BUGGERS next time.
