Weymouth October 2nd 2004

Rang skipper 7.15pm, Friday, for confirmation on tomorrows charter boat trip.

Answer:- 50/50 chance, but I will talk to you at the Sailors Return in the morning.

12.50am, Saturday. My brother picks me up and we head for Weymouth. The others have been there since Friday morning and enjoyed a days shore fishing.

2am, Leaving the M40 at Junction 9 to go onto the A34, we stopped at the traffic lights, with a jolt, felt like someone hit us up the a**e. The clutch pedel hit the deck. We are not mechanics just humble fishermen. Niether of us are in the AA or RAC. 999 was dialed and we were told to stay in the car.

3am, The police turn up and park behind us with blue flashing lights, "There's breakdown on there way, stay in the car".

4am, The car was loaded onto the back of a lorry, a talk to the driver, and our bestest option was to have us and the car taken back home.

5.30am, Arrived home. Costs :- Breakdown to Home £200+, Police callout 999 £100+. Well over £300.

Lesson,  Join a National Breakdown Service.

8am,Telephone conversations to Weymouth. Skipper, trip is off, adverse weather conditions.

Some of the Lads will do some pier fishing, 1 will come home.

A years planning, weather conditions and mechanical breakdowns. Unforseen circumstances, we cannot plan for all.

Why do we do it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love sea fishing and will probably do it next weekend

The one good thing that came out of all this,
I got to ride in the big truck with the flashing lights.
